When I pursued additional yoga training in Advanced Yin Yoga and Meditation, I was introduced to the world of “medical meditation” as I like to call it. It’s in fact kundalini meditations that were studied and “tested” by author and allopathic doctor, Dharma Singh Khalsa. A seasoned kundalini yoga practicionner, he decided to prescribe some of the ancient kriyas for certain physical, mental and emotional conditions.

In his book Meditation As Medicine, the meditations collected are those who “made the cut” if you will; the meditations that have had a notable, positive effect on his patients’ health and well-being.

Like any alternative medicine, some benefits can be observed immediately, but the strength of these types of approaches is in their gentle but cumulative practice. As usual, we always recommend you consult with your trusted health practitioner before taking on any health practice. 😉
